Since opening in the early 1990s, Fancourt has developed at an incredible pace, and is now firmly entrenched in the elite of world golf resorts. Gary Player's 27 holes were the foundations of the golf resort at its inauguration, but Fancourt now boasts three first class championship courses and a new public layout, making the estate's golf complex the envy of the African continent. Links Course Owner Dr. Hasso Plattner commissioned the legendary Gary Player to add the Links to Fancourt's existing layouts, and upon completion, the layout became an instant classic. Player's love of seaside golf spurred him to study his favourite coastal layouts of the UK and Ireland, and their influence is plainly visible. The demanding Links can be extended to a mighty 7,625 yards from the tees used for the 2003 Presidents Cup and the 2005 South African Open, but rest assured there are tees to suit the mere mortal. The Links is now one of the world's most celebrated courses, and is a ‘must play' for serious golfers. Montagu Course Fancourt's Montagu Course has in the past been ranked as South Africa's best, but with the inception of the Links in 2000, it appeared slightly dated. That is why the management implemented a thorough overhaul that involved major renovations, including the addition of two new holes. The resultant parkland layout - 7,385 yards - is once again celebrated in South Africa and beyond, and its spectacular holes will be remembered for a long time to come by fortunate Fancourt visitors. Outeniqua Course The Outeniqua takes its name from the dramatic mountain range that guards over the Fancourt estate, and was also conceived by Gary Player. Its character is similar to the neighbouring Montagu layout, with immaculate fairways and greens carved through the rugged dunes and expanses of water that characterise the landscape. Bramble Hill Course The newly established Bramble Hill course shares six holes with the golf academy, but plans are afoot to extend it to a full layout. The public course was established to serve the needs of the George community, and although it does not have the flair or extravagance of its country club neighbours, it has great potential, and is ideal for beginners and learners. In addition to its comprehensive academy, these amazing courses are truly awe-inspiring, which is why golf holidays at Fancourt are so sought after.

Central to the golfing experience at Boca Raton are the two tremendous courses; the starting point is the majestic Resort Course, one of Florida's ‘golden age' layouts, and once attached to touring pros Sam Snead and Tommy Armour. The par-71 layout is not overly exacting, but the mature design makes it a hugely enjoyable experience. Less well established but equally enjoyable is the Country Club Course, a par-72 of better than 6,500 yards that is best known for the signature island green of the closing hole.
